Programs of society

* First: the educational program
The member studies in this program the same curriculum which taught to ordinary students “ able to speak” in the centers and schools of ministry of education the program divided into three educational levels.
- Illiteracy-eradication level
In this level, 45 of deaf youths and girls who did not receive their education are included.
The time period of this program is two years. they are divided on four courses. the students study here the adult illiteracy eradication curriculum approved by the ministry of education. the students have to pass at the end of this program a final exam prepared by the ministry. those who pass the exam will obtain a certificate equal to sixth elementary class certificate from ministry that make them able to join directly the ninth class. however, students who join the program this year the first term of it.
- The ninth class - level
Eight female — students who passed. the illiteracy — eradication program last year are joining this level. time period of this program is one year in which female students are studying the same curriculum of the ninth class of the ordinary female students of ministry’s schools. At the end of the year the successful female students will obtain an approved certificate from the ministry of education by which they can join the second secondary class "Tawgehi”
- The second secondary level
Two females students who obtain the ninth class certificate from the ministry of education are joining the scientific section of this program.
Worth to mention those two female students engaged in the ninth class exam with 350 male and female ordinary students last year where as 25 out of them only succeeded. mean while, those two female students obtain the first and the third degree of his level a matter which attract the ministry attention of importance and hidden capacity that this section has.
 

* Second: the professional program
Due to a society being new established with very modest capabilities, it could not provide for complete training program provide for vacancies and employing the deaf. therefore it is content now with the execution of many of rehabilitation training. Courses that enable the deaf of acquiring profession or craft a matter that may enable him of having job chance. an examples of these courses are, coiffeur, cosmetology, cooking, embroidery sewing, pastries, hairdressing courses, plumbery, trade, aluminum, bamboo) and others.
These course executed by the society alone. it could coordinates and cooperates with other societies that have the equipments and materials necessary to training.
 

* Third : the service program
The society coordinates in this program with ministries and charitable societies in order to make a available the emergent and daily needs of the deaf, such as:
- the society is the location where collecting and distributing ramadan’s alms occurred for the deaf.
- it coordinates with other societies in order to decrease prices of ear hearing pieces and the necessary eye glasses and it makes contracts with many of clinics and bodies to decrease prices of the deaf’s needs.
- it organized many collective meals parties in coordination with charitable societies and individuals.
- It cooperates with Islamic and charitable societies in distributing the greater barium meats for the deaf in all of Gaza governorate.
- It distributes sets and cards of jawal on the deaf in order to use them in the short messages and provide them with many of free of charge services in coordination with jawal company and with relational committee for rehabilitation handicapped with respect to this point, more than 170 sets and cards were distributed and another 50 sets will be distributed in the near future.
- It distributes foodstuff boxes on the poor of the deaf in coordination with societies, local institutions and the concerned ministries.
- To provide the deaf with employment chances in the government institutions and special workshops.
 

* Fourth: spontaneous translation program
The society has staff of sign language, sworn and authorized from ministry of interior and ministry of justice.
They are authorized from the society to the police, courts, the official authorities and deaf.
The staff provide spontaneous translation service for the deaf all the day and interfere to resolve any conflict or disputes among the deaf themselves or between them and their families or even with police and the official authorities. the staff is the only one that authorized by the ministry of interior and ministry of justices.
 

* Fifth: the psycho logical program
This program is supervised by male and female psychologists and number of cultured deaf. the program presided by deaf person who is as the deaf — god father. the program offers psychological services for ( male and female) deaf and to their families.

* Sixth : sport program
The society proceeds the activities of this program through Gaza club for the deaf that belong to it where it supervised many sport.
Teams such as : ( football, basketball, tennis, handball, bicycle race and chess)
The society participates in the local and international games and competitions besides it holds many of summer’s camps and convenes sports courses such as : (swimming, curate, nenshako).

* Seventh : the entertainment program
This program is very concerned to the society due to sufferings of handicapping and the negative view of the society towards him. The difficulty of communication with him, a matter that result is social and psychological results that need to be treated through targeted journeys and entertainment.
The society made during previous month many journeys to many places such as : ( archeological places — the sea, journeys to the open, to evacuated settlements, Gaza international airport and local institutions) about 450 participants took part in these journeys. however, the society supervised two play and silent acting groups, one for male and another one for the female. the deaf lead the local society through these groups to its ideas and goals. the plays treated the problems that interested the deaf and the local society and it presents the desires , needs and future ambition of the deaf.
 

* Eighth : the education program
This program concerns three main sections , they are:
- The adult deaf
- To taking care of this section is relatively new because it missed many things of its daily life, therefore, the program treats some of it through:
- To educate the deaf religious lessons through preaching seminars organized by the society, Translating the Friday’s pray sermon, and translating them via the T.V.
- To educate the deaf the sign language in order to facilitate their communication with each other.
- To educate the deaf about the municipality and legislative Palestinian elections.
- To organize meetings with different electoral candidates
- To discuss problems and cases of the deaf through general workshops and conferences.
- To work on preparing unite Palestinian dictionary of sign language (book and video)
- To learn the deaf about history and geography of Palestine and asking the assistance of experienced personal of local universities.
- Families of deaf
The existence of a deaf person or more in a family will undoubtedly has its effect on the rest of the family, therefore the society must interfere to take care of the deaf families and enlighten them through:
- holding sign language courses to facilitate their communication with their deaf sons and daughters.
- To cultivate the people of rights and duties of the deaf regarding what they shall offer to this section.
- To educate the people of psychological and social traits of the deaf which may result in behaviors by them and had to respond on them.
- To enlighten the people about the main daily problems that may result in big problems between the deaf and their families such as, marriage, education, work and others.
- To issue educative pamphlets on the deaf timeliest problems.
- The local society
- holing sign language courses for the local society and university students.
- To issue identification pamphlets that interested the deaf and clarify the size and the importance of this section and it hidden capacities.
- To spread the sign language among the police personnel and security services in addition to personnel who work in the health so as to facilitate the communication with the deaf.
